The Lancashire Wolverines and Lancashire Wolverine Colts are currently finalising plans for their annual Rookie Camp ahead of the 2009 season. The date of the event has been altered due to changes in venue availability, and the camp will now take place on Saturday 10th January at the indoor astrodome at St Joseph's R.C. High School in Horwich, Bolton. The astrodome is also the location of the Wolverines and Wolverine Colts pre-season training camp from January through to March, guaranteeing that valuable preparation time is unaffected by the unpredictable British weather.
The Lancashire Wolverines are the Senior Kitted team representing the Lancashire Academy of American Football, and are open to anyone aged 19 and upwards. The Wolverine Colts are the Kitted youth team of the Academy, and are available to players aged 16 to 19.
The camp will take place from 12 until 5pm on Saturday 10th January, and will take place on Astroturf. The camp will be unkitted, so players are recommended to wear tracksuit/shorts/t-shirt along with appropriate footwear.
Sunday 11th January will see both teams return for pre-season training in the Astrodome, and this will be between 12 and 3pm.
Any player who would like to register for the Rookie Camp, or request more information, should contact Wolverines Head Coach, Paul Horsburgh at

2008 Colts 'Fun Afternoon' |
All Colts 2008 players, including those who are leaving us as well as those who have only trained and not played so far, are invited to a fun, team get-together on Sunday September 14th from 1pm to 3pm at Blackburn RUFC. There will be chance for coaches and players to reflect on the season, deal with any outstanding admin matters, organise the end-of-season presentation and set out our stall for 2009. After the formalities we will have a scrimmage with as many of you as possible joining in, so wear suitable clothing guys.
Anyone who owes subs and/or coach fares should aim to pay up on this occasion. There is a separate list on the website showing who owes what, for those of you in any doubt.
Also all outstanding club kit should be returned for inventory checking/repairs in the off-season. It is club property and this is the only way we can know what needs buying/replacing before the new season so please comply. We cannot be a play-off winning team in sub-standard kit.
Tickets will be available for the end-of-season 'do'. We hope to see as many of you as possible there to celebrate our successes and we have organised a special Colts rate of just £10, that's £5 less than last year, to encourage you all to join us. Following our awesome Inverness trip, we all know how important it is for us as a team to meet up socially and continue the bonding process.
Let's see you all at Blackburn and keep the spirit of the 2008 season alive! |
