Fascinated by the rules of our game? Want to have a real impact on the way the game is played in this country? Under new BAFA rules laid out at the recent end-of-season meeting, all League 2 and Youth teams must provide team judges for the 2009 season. Without these, the teams will not have games scheduled and will not be able to play competitive football. It is essential, therefore, that we recruit interested and knowledgeable volunteers to train as team judges and take the field at both home and away fixtures. In return for volunteering, BAFA are offering all applicants a full-day training course in February with accreditation at Referee Level 1. This can be extended to qualified referee status through subsequent courses if so wished. The Lancashire Academy looks forward to hearing from anyone interested in taking up one of these vital and influential positions. Please contact Greg Adam (Wolverines Team Manager) at

The Lancashire Wolverines and Lancashire Wolverine Colts are currently finalising plans for their annual Rookie Camp ahead of the 2009 season. The date of the event has been altered due to changes in venue availability, and the camp will now take place on Saturday 10th January at the indoor astrodome at St Joseph's R.C. High School in Horwich, Bolton. The astrodome is also the location of the Wolverines and Wolverine Colts pre-season training camp from January through to March, guaranteeing that valuable preparation time is unaffected by the unpredictable British weather.
The Lancashire Wolverines are the Senior Kitted team representing the Lancashire Academy of American Football, and are open to anyone aged 19 and upwards. The Wolverine Colts are the Kitted youth team of the Academy, and are available to players aged 16 to 19.
The camp will take place from 12 until 5pm on Saturday 10th January, and will take place on Astroturf. The camp will be unkitted, so players are recommended to wear tracksuit/shorts/t-shirt along with appropriate footwear.
Sunday 11th January will see both teams return for pre-season training in the Astrodome, and this will be between 12 and 3pm.
Any player who would like to register for the Rookie Camp, or request more information, should contact Wolverines Head Coach, Paul Horsburgh at
