Bucs End of Season Presentation 2007

Well it's coming to that time again when we celebrate on another successful year, and give all the players the credit that they deserve.

The event will take place on Sunday 9th December at Chorley F.C, at 3pm with the doors opening at 2:15pm. Each year, the presentation seems to get bigger not only because the club is getting more players, but also because more parents are getting involved.

"I've been in contact with Chorley FC this week and they were more than happy to have us there again. Although it takes quite a lot of time up trying to plan the event, it's a great feeling seeing it all come together." said Junior Flag Head Coach Ian Nicolson who then added "We have a couple of big announcements this year so it makes that bit more exciting as well."

Tickets for the event are £5, if you haven't already booked your tickets time is running out. Contact Ian Nicolson on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 07809103647

Lancashire Wolverine Colts Pre-Season Quarterback Clinic
The Lancashire Wolverine Colts are today very proud to announce details of their Pre Season QB Clinic as part of their preparations for the 2008 season.

The clinic will be held on Sunday 9th December 2007 from 11am to 2pm at the Dome based at St Joseph's School in Horwich.

The clinic will be held by new Offensive co-ordinator Geoff Leigh although all other Colts Coaches should be in attendance. Head Coach Ian Kay stated "The idea behind the clinic is two fold; from a coaching prospective it gives the Coaching staff a chance to evaluate the talent available at quarterback before the start of preseason training, this will be assist in the development of next years offensive strategy. From a player's prospective it allows for three hours of intensive QB skill based drills for those players who are currently Quarterback's whilst opening the door to any player who hasn't previously consider playing quarterback to give it a go without having to miss out on training for their current position."

The clinic is open to all current and prospective Colts players who wish to try their hand at playing QB, interested players are advised to wear training gear (t-shirt and joggers/shorts) and to wear astro-turf friendly footwear. In addition players are requested to bring water for their own use together with a £2 "subs" payment to contribute to the cost of hiring the dome.

Finally any player who was not BAFA registered in 2007 is requested to download and complete the BYAFA temporary membership form (http://www.byafa.org/2007docs/2007TMF.doc) and bring it along with them for insurance purposes.

Wolverines Fight Back to End Season on a High
Sunday, 25 November 2007 16:58

Steve Norris in action one final timeThe Lancashire Wolverines American Football Club completed their first season back in the British American Football League (BAFL) on Sunday with a gutsy comeback win against Scottish opponents Edinburgh Wolves.

Trailing 7-28 at half-time, the Blackburn-based side fought back with 26 unanswered points to win 33-28; a comeback that is being hailed as one of the best in the Club's 17 year history and the largest comeback of the BAFL 2007 season.

Head Coach, Paul Horsburgh said after the game: "That was an emotional rollercoaster of a game. A first half to forget and a second to go down in team history. We really pulled together today and played for each other. Only great things can come in the future"

Defensive Co-ordinator Darren Carr added: "We put ourselves in a hole in the first half but with a few minor adjustments and a lot of heart we pulled off the best comeback I can remember in my 14 years in British football. The offence were unstoppable in the second half, and deserve all the praise they get, but I was even more impressed with the defence, who all stepped up to put the offence in the position to win the game. It was fitting for me that the game was sealed by the interception by Lex Dunn. It would be difficult to pick out any one player, as it was a true team performance that I was proud to be a part of. This game shows how far we have come and proves to all those that doubted the Wolverines, that we are back and will be serious contenders next season."

Steve Norris, the Club's chairman ("Mr Wolverine" as he is affectionately known), concluded: "This 1st season back in the BAFL was always going to be tough. We have had some big wins but we have also had some tough losses. In the second half today we played true Wolverine Football and I could not be prouder of the TEAM! We now have an amazing platform to build on for next season."

The Wolverines Senior Team would like to take this opportunity to thank their Game Ball sponsor, Perfect 10s (www.perfect10s.co.uk) for their support throughout the 2007 season.
